Mt. Pleasant opened its volleyball season Monday with a five-game victory at county rival Culleoka.
The Lady Tigers trailed 1-0 and 2-1, before forcing a fifth game with a 25-23 win and clinching the match 15-11 in the finale.
“Really proud of the teamwork,” Mt. Pleasant assistant Natasha McFall said. “Freshman Addison Workman did a great job on kills and passing. Freshman Sophie Rettinger did a great job on setting. Sophomore Addy Grace Holt did a great job passing along with junior Baleigh Gray.
“Sophomore Audrey Kittrell played a fantastic game. She is noticeably more confident than last year. Junior Kylie Brewer, our MVP last year, came back as strong as ever.”
Mt. Pleasant opens District 11-A play Tuesday at Hampshire, then travels Thursday to league rival Collinwood. Culleoka goes to Santa Fe Monday.
Mt. Pleasant def. Culleoka 3-2 (24-26, 25-12, 25-27, 25-23, 15-11).
