Summertown takes another postseason step on road

Following its District 11-A tournament title with the Region 6-A tourney championship Tuesday, Summertown continues to move toward successfully defending its state volleyball crown.

The Lady Eagles defeated Scotts Hill in straight sets (25-5, 25-7, 25-6) in the semifinals at Liberty Tech in Jackson, advancing into the finals against Loretto in a rematch of the district championship match.

Facing their Lawrence County rivals, the Lady Eagles swept them as well — winning 25-20, 25-14, 25-19.

With the win, Summertown will host Thursday’s Class A sectional against Hickman County at 7 p.m. Loretto will travel to Harpeth Thursday.

Class A sectional winners advance to the state tournament, which begins Oct. 20 at Stewarts Creek High School.
