8-AAA hoops predictions announced, teams named

Columbia Central junior Q Martin was recently named to the preseason all-District 8-AAA boys basketball team, with the Lions predicted to finish second in the upcoming campaign.

Balloting among the league’s coaches and press corps was conducted following the second District 8-AAA Basketball Media Day, which was held Tuesday in Winchester.

Coffee County’s boys and girls were favored to repeat as regular-season district titlists.

Columbia Central opens its season with a girls/boys doubleheader Tuesday at Smyrna, then plays a Friday twinbill at Forrest before beginning the home portion of its schedule Nov. 23 against Centennial.

Girls predicted order of finish — Coffee County; Tullahoma; Lawrence County; Lincoln County; Columbia Central; Franklin County; Shelbyville

Girls all-district — Jalie Ruhling, Bella Vinson (Coffee Co.); Chloe Willis (Lawrence Co.); Amelia Kate Richardson (Lincoln Co.); Kailyn Farrell (Tullahoma)

Boys predicted order of finish — Coffee County; Columbia Central; Franklin County; Tullahoma; Lawrence County; Lincoln County; Shelbyville

Boys all-district — C.J. Anthony (Coffee Co.); Q Martin (Columbia Central); Sumo Scaife (Franklin Co.); Jailain Brown (Lincoln Co.); Jakobe Thomas (Tullahoma)
