Still perfect heading into a Tuesday matchup with visiting District 10-A foe Santa Fe, Richland moves up a spot in this week’s Associated Press Class A boys basketball statewide poll.
The Raiders, 13-0 following wins last week over Mt. Pleasant and Cornersville, check in at No. 3 — ahead of area rivals Loretto (10-3, No. 5) and Summertown (14-4, No. 6).
The Eagles, who trail their Lawrence County counterpart despite a 58-47 homecourt victory a week ago, travel Tuesday to Perry County, which received 15 points in this week’s poll. Loretto takes on visiting Collinwood.
In Class AAA, Franklin (17-2) continues to climb the charts. The Admirals are ranked fourth this week, with fellow District 11-AAA competitor Brentwood (11-4) coming in at No. 9. Franklin plays Tuesday at Page, while the Bruins go to Spring Hill.
On the girls side, Summertown (17-3) is No. 2 and Loretto (11-4) No. 4, the Lady Mustangs dropping a spot after their Jan. 19 loss at their county and District 12-A rival.
Brentwood (17-4), seventh in Class AAA, looks to avenge an early-season District 11-AAA loss as the Lady Bruins travel Tuesday to Spring Hill. The Lady Raiders are unbeaten in league play.
Also in Class AAA, Coffee County (19-1) moved from sixth to fourth following Friday’s 59-28 win over visiting Columbia Central. The Lady Raiders play Tuesday at Franklin County in a District 8-AAA clash.
