Summit senior Delaney Noe announced this week she will continue her basketball career at Berry College in Rome, Ga.

Noe committed to the NCAA Division III program Tuesday, tabbing the Vikings after also receiving scholarship offers from Birmingham Southern, Blue Mountain, Davis & Elkins and Tusculum.

“I’d been building a relationship with the coach since my sophomore year,” said Noe, who averaged a team-high 13 points per game and hit 54 total 3-pointers for the Lady Spartans as a senior after previously playing at Williamson County and District 11-AAA rival Page.

“It’s closer to home. It’s a huge campus, one of the largest campuses in the USA; it’s wonderful. And they have pre-dental and I plan on being a dentist. It really just works out.”

The 5-6 guard helped Summit to a 17-11 finish this season and a berth in the Region 6-AAA quarterfinals.

“I think it’s a really good fit,” Summit coach John Wild said. “She’s one of the best passing point guards I’ve seen in 30 years. She can score at three levels. When you look for a guard to play at the next level, you look and see if the kid can score at three levels. She can make 3s, she can score off the midrange pull-up, 12-15 feet, and even though she may not be the biggest thing in the world, she’s strong and uses her body well around the rim where she can finish at the rim.

“She’s a gym rat, she’s going to be in the gym, she’s going to work on her own. I think that’s what will help her at the next level, because she’s going to constantly be trying to separate herself from others through a tremendous amount of preparation. I think it’s a good situation for her.”
