Columbia Central 5, Franklin Co. 0: After a scoreless first half, the host Lions took control of their District 8-AAA contest Tuesday with quick back-to-back goals from Victor Ramirez and Brewer Wall. Ramirez went on to score twice more, giving Central (5-0, 2-0) its second hat trick of the season. Brandon Carrascoza added a goal, with Dane Holley picking up his fourth shutout of the year in the net.

Baseball

Mt. Pleasant 13, McEwen 3 (5 inn.): Following an 11-10 comeback victory Monday at McEwen, their first under coach Kennedy Mathis, the Tigers struck for 11 fourth-inning runs Tuesday. Kevin Reed and Brady Clark each drove in three runs for the hosts, with Reed striking out four in 4 2/3 innings to earn the mound decision.

Columbia Acad. 4, Grace Chr. 1: The Bulldogs completed their sweep of GCA as Bryant Beranek and Tyler Stephens each homered in Tuesday’s victory. Beranek went the distance on the mound, striking out 11 and giving up just three hits in seven innings.

Independence 9, Spring Hill 1: Cooper Hargrove threw a four-hitter for the Eagles, striking out six, with Logan Molnar and Jack Baughman providing the offensive support — Baughman with three hits, Molnar with a home run off Raiders starter Dawson Hargrove. Quent Mizer homered for Spring Hill.

Summit 5, Franklin 3: Devin Thrain and John Cannella each had a pair of hits for the Spartans as they edged Franklin for the second straight night. Starter Max Fell, Parker Dean and Brady Hendrix combined to limit the Admirals to four hits, with Fell striking out eight in 4 1/3 innings.

Softball

Columbia Acad. 4, Middle Tenn. Chr. 3: Myleah Hardy homered and Averi Slaughter scattered 10 Lady Cougar hits while striking out nine as CA picked up the Division II-A District 3 victory Tuesday. Chloe Carter and Karli Quillin each had three hits for the Lady Bulldogs.

Richland 8, Culleoka 2: The Lady Raiders broke open Tuesday’s District 10-A matchup with four fifth-inning runs off Kendall Reischman and Michaela Mitchell. Alexis Oliver and Macee Spencer each had a pair of hits in the loss.

Tennis

Columbia Acad. boys 6, Watertown 0: Miles Nixon and Aaron Sullivan each had dominant singles victories and teamed for a doubles win against the Purple Tigers. Keyton Kodatt and Hayes Lewis also won singles matches, with Lewis and Nathan Thomas winning in doubles.

Watertown girls 4, Columbia Acad. 3: Anna Claire Butt won her No. 3 singles match and Addison Morgan won at No. 5, with the Lady Bulldogs’ No. 1 doubles pairing of Piper Brock and Abby Burgess also posting a victory, but it wasn’t enough in the nailbiter.
