Softball

Lincoln Co. 4, Columbia Central 1: The host Lady Lions managed just two hits and fell behind early, yielding a pair of runs in the first inning of their District 8-AAA contest and two more in the Lady Falcons’ following two at-bats.

Columbia Acad. 9-4, Russellville (Ala.) 0-2: Karli Quillin, Kennedy Chatman and Tori Duval each had three hits for the Lady Bulldogs as they were victorious in their opener at the Gulf Coast Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala. Duval homered and drove in four runs, while Carson-Newman signee Journey Mitchell and Anna Brewer combined to strike out eight in four innings in the circle. In the second contest, CA got five strikeouts in three innings from Averi Slaughter with Duval and Abbigail Adkins each getting two hits.

Zion Chr. 21, Grace Chr. 5: The Lady Eagles scored in each of their four at-bats, with Halle Adcox going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a pair of runs and five RBI. Elizabeth Wood also had two hits for the hosts in their Division II-A District 3 victory.

Lawrence Co. 1, Spring Hill 0: Spring Hill’s Katherine Carter, a Jacksonville State signee, and Lawrence County’s Samantha Staggs dueled on Monday night, and the Lady Cats small-balled their way to a win. Lawrence County laid down three bunts in the seventh inning to bring home the game-winning run. Carter struck out 15 Lady Cats in the loss. Alabama A&M signee D’Naijah Wade led the Lady Raiders at the plate with a pair of hits.

Baseball

Mt. Pleasant 11, Culleoka 4: The visiting Tigers broke open their District 10-A contest with a five-run second inning as Hayden Holt doubled home a pair of runs and Codell Gilliam added a two-run single. Mt. Pleasant scored four more runs in the third inning to pull away. Culleoka got an RBI base hit from Carson Lovell in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fifth.

Loretto 15, Collinwood 0: Connor Clemons went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs, striking out eight and allowing just two hits, with Josh Porter, Tristen Green and Clint Seymore keying a seven-run third-inning rally in the 12-A matchup.

Summit 13, Brentwood 2: Alex Runk, Cameron Lee and Max Fell each drove in runs during the Spartans’ five-run fourth en route to the 11-AAA road victory. Fell struck out nine in four innings, limiting the Bruins to two runs, with Logan Franzoni and Robert Gallardo teaming to cover the final two innings.

Ravenwood 9, Spring Hill 3: The host Raptors did their damage early, grabbing a four-run first-inning lead and adding runs in each of their following three at-bats. Spring Hill managed just four hits, with Nathaniel Huntzinger doubling in a run for the Raiders and Brantly Whitwell adding an RBI base hit.
