BASEBALL

Lawrence County 4, Loretto 3 (8 inn.): While it may have taken an extra frame, Lawrence County completed the season sweep of county rival Loretto. With two outs in the inning, Ayden Luffman found home plate on a passed ball to take the lead for the Wildcats, and Luke Boswell struck out the side in the bottom half for the win. Boswell went five innings and struck out 10 in the game. Loretto committed four errors in the loss.

Spring Hill 5, Franklin 4: Spring Hill needed a miracle to finish a two-game sweep of Franklin, and in the seventh inning, the baseball gods answered in the affirmative. Jackson Marbet singled home a pair of runs in a five-run seventh to give the Raiders the win. Nathan Huntzinger and Dawson Hargrove also drove in runs in the inning. Luka Boylan gave up four runs in two and two-thirds, but Connor Gaia and Cooper Inch shut out the Admirals the rest of the way. Brandon O’Brien added a hit and RBI in the game as well.

Columbia Acad. 11, Zion Chr. 1: Damon Toombs doubled home Drew Butt to end the game on Tuesday. Kavares Tears hit a two-run homer earlier in the fifth inning, his 10th of the season. He finished 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs and two walks. Max Ballard was a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of ribbies as well. Tears got the start on the bump and went four and one-third. He walked four and struck out nine, giving up no earned runs. The Eagles were no-hit for the second day in a row, but a pair of CA errors helped to get Luke Perko, who drew a leadoff walk in the inning, home for Zion.

SOFTBALL

Culleoka 14, Santa Fe 4: Culleoka pounded out 18 hits in the game, while scoring 11 runs in the first two innings to set the tone against their district foe. Seven Lady Warriors collected multiple hits in the game. Tyler Reischman was 3-for-4 and scored three times. Chloe Kennedy was 2-for-3 with three RBIs after replacing Tayler Watson who was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and two RBIs herself. Kylie Thomas went the distance, giving up three earned runs on seven hits.

Spring Hill 7, Brentwood 3: Another masterful performance from Kat Carter set up her Lady Raiders to earn another 11-AAA win this week. She pitched seven innings, giving up one earned run and striking out 15 in the win. At the plate, D’Naijah Wade and Marissa Ellis were each 3-for-4 in the game. Spring Hill scored three in the third and the sixth after falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning.

TENNIS

Franklin Road Acad. girls 4, Columbia Acad. 0: The Lady Bulldogs were swept in the Middle Region tournament semifinals, but will meet district rival Christ Presbyterian Academy — which lost 4-0 to University School of Nashville — in Friday’s region consolation match.
