SM-Tn Sports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite a defeat and a fifth open date, Independence and Summit closed the regular season among the top 10 teams in their respective classifications as judged by Associated Press poll voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Eagles are listed at No. 10 in the final AP Class 6A ranking, following their 28-14 loss Friday to visiting Region 6-6A rival Ravenwood. Completing the year with a 6-2 record, third-seeded Independence will open postseason play Friday at LaVergne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Spartans, who picked up four \u2018COVID\u2019 wins this fall \u2013 including one last weekend when Lincoln County was unable to take the field for their Region 5-5A matchup — remain at No. 3 in the Class 5A Top 10 listing. Officially 9-1 on the season, Summit opens the playoffs at home Friday against Hillwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Region 4-4A and Region 5-1A each has a pair of teams in the final statewide polls. Tullahoma completed a perfect regular-season with a win over Maplewood and retained its No. 2 spot, while Marshall County fell from third to eighth after its loss at Nolensville. Tullahoma (10-0) opens the Class 4A state playoffs against visiting Stone Memorial, with Marshall County (7-2) traveling to Macon County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the Class 1A rankings, Moore County (9-1) vaulted from fifth to third after defeating Mt. Pleasant 38-13, with league champion Fayetteville (8-2) slipping from fifth to sixth after throttling Sale Creek 42-6. The Raiders host Wayne County while the Tigers entertain Hollow Rock-Bruceton in Friday\u2019s opening round of the playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lewis County also closed an undefeated regular season with its 7-0 win over Forrest in Week 11, and held onto the No. 3 spot in Class 2A.
