MURFREESBORO \u2013<\/strong> Loretto was happy to be back. Cloudland was happy to be there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that may have been the difference in Wednesday\u2019s TSSAA Class A girls basketball state tournament quarterfinal matchup, as the Lady Mustangs \u2013 making their third straight appearance \u2013 put together an early offensive blitz en route to a 63-31 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re comfortable here. That may have been a disadvantage for Cloudland,\u201d Loretto coach Ashley Rutledge said after the victory, which sets up a 10 a.m. semifinal clash Friday against Clay County, a 59-38 quarterfinal winner Wednesday over Peabody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Lady Mustangs had their tourney stay a year ago cut short because of the global pandemic, the team advanced to the 2019 finals before falling to Gibson County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
